FAQ’s
I like questions. My profession (as a therapist) leaves me on the asking end most of the time, but I like to answer them too. Adam and I get some of the same questions about our family over and over. That’s ok because some of the answers change with time. Here are today’s answers:
What is OI and who is an OIer?
OI is the abbreviation for WheelerDad’s and WheelerMom’s (me!) disability. Osteogenesis Imperfecta is a genetic condition that causes dwarfism and bones that break easier than most. WheelerMom and WheelerDad use wheelchairs for mobility. OIers are other friends with OI. The OI community is a dynamic group of families linked by a unique challenge that encourages us all to appreciate our triumphs that much more deeply. For that reason, we’re thankful to call dozens of OIers friends.
How do you get Hannah in the car?
We made a couple of videos to address this a few days after we brought Hannah home. We’re set to make another soon now that she’s bigger and I’m strong enough to transport her. Here’s getting IN the van papa-style. And here’s getting out. Stay tuned for a post on this soon.
Where can I find onesies with the months printed on them like Hannah’s wearing in her monthly photo shoots?
Ah…You’ve been fooled by the magic of Photoshop! We can’t claim this genius idea. It was blatantly borrowed from the blog YoungHouseLove. They also feature an excellent tutorial to teach you how to do it!
